George Ernest Cranmer was born in Denver, Colo. in 1884. He attended East High School and graduated from Princeton University in 1907. After graduation, he worked in the family's ranching business before entering the brokerage firm of James H. Causey. Cranmer eventually opened his own firm with A. E. Wilson and by 1928 had saved enough money to retire at the age of forty-four.
